Looking for a budget pair of headphones for your home studio? Then look no further than the AKG K-52 headphones, which offer excellent AKG sound quality with a super-low price!
The K-52's are a closed-back and over-ear design offering comfort and less mic-spillage than non over-ear types. The headband is elasticated, offering instant fit without the need for any sort of adjustment slider mechanism which can become lose eventually in some designs. Overall design is lightweight at just 200 grams.
The K-52's have a 32 Ohm impedance making them suitable for a wide range of uses, including on-the-go with MP3 players & mobile phones as well as for the home studio.
The K-52's have a sensitivity of 110 dB SPL/ V, & offer a wide frequency range of 18Hz - 20000 Hz (20kHz) easily able to deliver low-end content when checking mixes, while the top-end is smooth & sugar-frosty and never sound harsh over extended listening periods.
They come with a decent 2.5 metre length cable fitted with a 3.5 mm plug and come with a 1/4 inch (6.3 mm) adapter making them ready to go with home studio audio interfaces & mobile devices
I use these headphones myself having tried them after a friend purchased a pair & they make a great replacement for my now worn-out but pricier AKG 240 DF's.
Another small but often overlooked point is that with the K-52's you never have to hunt around to find the usually tiny lettering indicating which side of the headphones is Left & Right because either earpiece has a huge white L & R printed inside the headphone cup.
In summary: a great sound, lightweight, and cheap... My current recommendation for home studio headphones.
