This is a very well made mic with good stereo separation. It has little self noise, about the same as the built-in mic on my Sony TRV38 camcorder. It's a little weak on bass, but most mics in this price range are. Otherwise, tonal balance is pretty good. For music, it's better than the ATR55 which is a mono, shotgun mic.
Don't expect it to sound as good as the $250 AT822, but for a stereo mic that typically sells for less than $40, it's a very good value.
I'm rating it a 4 because I consider it a good value in it's price range.
