Being a hobbyist home studio kind of guy, I have only had SM57's and 58's up to this point. This AT-3035 I paid $200 new. It's a lovely mic. It has a sturdy silver composition to it that seems durable enough to be a bomb shelter for a pet roach or something. The shockmount is also a good fit (I hear that's hard to come by) so you can swing it around anywhere you want.

I had to go and buy a pop filter to attach to the mic stand, because sibilance is a hit and miss kind of thing depending on the singer you are recording. It's certainly better than a 57 or 58 for vocals.

This does pretty well against guitar amps as well, but I still prefer to use a 57 on most amps. I've had it for a month and I'm still learning it. It does very well against a kick drum, I've gotten some very round sounds out of mine, which is a vast improvement over using a 57 on the kick. A lot less cardboard.

Seems like a fine fine mic for only $200.
