Crazy Diamonds is a freeware VSTi for mac, osx & pc - The site info says:

Do you remember this certain song with a similar name? Did you ever wonder which instrument Pink Floyd used in it? Did you wait for a plugin simulation? Shine on. - Crazy Diamonds is supposed to emulate some vintage string ensembles like the famous ARP Solina

Sounds ok eh?.... In practice, it sound pretty accurate, sorta imagine that opening string/organ sound fade up on Dark Side Of The Moon (shine on crazy diamond), and that's the sound!... Nice for pads etc... Well it's free, so get a download via the site link of the right-hand column of this page and try it yourself.
