This interface has worked flawlessly for me. I chose it amongst other options because my web research showed that its drivers for Mac OS X were excellent; this proved to be true. Drivers are always the crux of any interface -- research them for your OS before you buy, and avoid headaches.
I didn't think I'd use the digital inputs, but I got a channel strip which has digital outs (Joe Meek SixQ ), and that works great. So now the Emu's two analog inputs are freed up for misc. aux input; I plug an iPod or drum machine in to practice bass along with, when I don't want to boot up the computer.
The pre-amps no match for an external one, but useable for non-critical purposes.
Otherwise, the 0404 has been perfect.
