Boss DR-110
The DR-110 was the last Roland/BOSS analog drumbox, coming out in '83 it was an instant pocket-sized hit, but neweer digital units arrived soon after and within 3 years the DR-110 was a bargain-bin goodie. Uses the Roland TR style matrix grid to sequence patterns which is displayed on an LCD display about the size of an old gameboy - 7 sounds could be had from this 80's calculator sized unit: Bass Drum, Snare Drum, Open Hat, Closed Hat and Pedal Hat (both open & closed hats together), Ride Cymbal and Hand Clap; we also see here the accent being introdiced as a sequence-able item. They are great little units you could put in your pocket, yet when connected to a bassrig or guitar amp they make a massive sound and were great to write to as well. Anyone use one? please leave some comments.

The DR-110 is a great drum machine.
It has a nice tight Bass Drum, a clean punchy snare, a very useful hand clap, and the high hats are very similar to the one in the 606.
I would say that overall, the 110 has a very clean and refined sound.
I have a TR-606 and TR-909 as well, and despite the 110's small size it can hold it's own sonically with it's bigger siblings.
They are very cheap (I got mine for $43), and are a great value. The only drawback is that there is no sync, and you cannot mute or control the levels of individual sounds, so recording this box takes a little extra effort.
Overall, I am very pleased with the 110, and would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a good drum machine.

I have several vintage drum machines including a TR-33, TR-707, DR-55, DR-110 and and uber-crapy Rhythm Master RM-20. The TR-707 is the most useful (I use it to trigger and sync other gear) but the sound, size, and performance of the DR-110 make it one of my favourites.
Inputting notes and creating patterns is quick and easy. The sound quality is outstanding and the size and shape make it easy to use anywhere. I keep it with me along with a couple small keyboards everywhere I go.
The lack of built-in sync is inconvenient but I'm planning on installing an aftermarket sync kit which will solve this issue.
Overall, a great drum machine with useful sounds and functions. As of November 2012 the prices are starting to rise so If you can still find one for under $150 it's a great bargain.
