The Alesis M-EQ230 - two 30-band 1/3 octave graphic equalizers Alesis have crammed into a single height rack U... just added cos it is such a common graphic and easy to find s/h... not a very useful purchase for newbies from a 'creative' EQ point of view, but these 2x30's have their uses. These use Alesis's cheap surface mount technology I think?... if so, I dunno how robust that is after time in use... but they work, they are cheap & affordable and very common
You get 1/4" and phono jacks sockets so you can match it up ok without plug-converters to your studio. Interestingly like the Klark Teknik's the M-EQ230 has an 'Auto Power Muting' function which cuts the signal at power up/down from power on/off transients... This is VERY good to have in a PA setup especialy... and the In/Out switch allows you to easily compare your original signal to the equalized sound.
20hz - 20khz, 1/3 octave notches - (25 / 31 / 40 / 50 / 62 / 80 / 100 / 125 / 160 / 200 / 250 / 320 / 400 / 500 / 640 / 800 / 1k / 1.3k / 1.6k/ 2k / 2.5k / 3.15k / 4k / 5k / 6.2k / 8k / 10k / 13k / 16k / 20kHz ) - with a Boost/Cut of ±12dB each.... bypass switch/eq in/out.... ±12dB input gain control...
User comments please... I've used 'em, they don't 'feel' good, but they work ok, pretty good actualy, traditional 1/3 octave graphic but space saving design & cheapo!

very useful unit this 2x30 unit is making ihis job perfectly. easy to use for studio or live equalisation you can plug it in insert or on the output signal of you mixer. It's probably not the kind of of EQ to equalize a 30Kw PA system, but for monitoring, recording in studio or live equalizing it's working real good. I got mine for 150euros and if you manage to find a better EQ for a lower price... tell me!
