Just keeping things up-to-date at Dancetech by adding this new product from MIDIMAN/D-MAN in Germany... Previously for multiple I/O use, MIDIMAN offered their 4 In X 4 OUT card the 2044 which used a cluster cable breakout with 8 1/4 jack sockets on the end (see review page).. Well now here's MIDIMANS latest multi-I/O 4 channel card, The DELTA-66, slated for a SEPTEMBER 99 release, and it has to be said... MIDIMAN usually deliver well-spec'd, no-frills quality kit, so this should be a very interesting product...
This is an ideal card for those who need quality audio I/O of more than L/R fixed stereo, but for whom 8 channels of I/O is just too much... But.. the user also wants digital S/PDIF for DAT transfers etc without haing to buy a seperate dedicated card for the job....
The Delta 66 offers 4 analog I/O on a quality breakout box (all with 24-bit 96kHz compatibility), this breakout box is linked to the provided PC PCI card on which the S/PDIF is located....The analog I/O connectors can be configuered as balanced or non-balanced, +4dB or -10dB signals... VERY handy on such a small cheap card..... Also included is Delta control panel software which supplies you with comprehensive routing, monitoring, and mixing capabilities.... So an ideal unit for Dance music PC systems... 4 analog outs is ideal to run out vocals & BV's etc to an outboard main mix, or tyou could confiure it in many ways... one analog pair could be dedicated to audio I/O routing from your mixer, and another analog Input pair could be assigned to the streo output of your main synth module say, to route it permenenty into the PC audio mix.... meanwhile the S/PDIF I/O can be wired to your DAT for mastering or recording any DAT based audio into your PC... and it is all Full-Duplex, meaning you can record of DAT via S/PDIF at the same time as you playback via analog outs, or record from analog input whilst simultaneously sending out via S/PDIF to DAT or perhaps to a S/PDIF-ANALOG converter box such as MIDIMANS 'FLYING-CALF' unit, to gain an extra analog pair... whatever....The only down-side I can see is the lack of a built-in midi interface... so you'll have t use another card like SB for the midi, or use a midi port (midman make several) or use a standard MPU midi card...
Anyways.. worth checking out the DELTA-66.... Here's the spec's from MIDIMAN.... look out for this card this month (september)...
