Roland RSP550
You could find this cheap, it was supposed to be pretty good.39 algorithms with a bandwidth of 21k, lush reverbs, delays, chorus's, stereo pitch-shifter & qud pitch shifter, phaser, flangers, rotaries, vocoder, multi-fx, mod fx, deleay & verb et etc... you could stack some of the fx I think & there is lot's of reverb parameters to adjust, as well as midi control of stuff like eq frequencies, reverb decay etc etc (midi in/out/thru) - Inputs & outs are switchable from -20 +4dBm..... All in all the retail price at it's time of release reflects the quality which at the time was high. People used it for various fx whilst tracking etc but it also could be employed as a main reverb....
Well, just adding it to the listings, any user comments?..

nice reverbs, give a good sense of 'space' not just early reflections and tails, does a nice phaser/panning for a rhodes, can't get much out of the vocoder (no manual, any clues?) unit gets quite hot in the rack - don't put it next to anything sensitive!

I had an RSP-550 for a while, and I
wasn't that impressed with it. If you
want a nice Roland Reverb, go for
the DEP-5. each patch has reverb,
EQ and modulation settings, and
there are dedicated knobs on the
front for the reverb and EQ settings.
very easy to edit and very airy
sounding.

This product is a very high end f/x unit, including a good vocoder, and compares with the MPX500, we also have one in stock, in mint condition.

I have two RSP-550's.
It has some nice delays, some nice modulated reverbs, chorus, etc.
They get hot in the rack but sound really nice.

Very good unit, I bought it new, and it did not dissapointed. Like the unique functions like edge enhancer, vocoder is pretty good sounding, delay can be very organic sounding. Yes, it does got hot.

According to Thatched Cottage Audio in Hertforshire where I bought this I bought the first one sold in the UK - in the summer of 1991.
I used it for several years with the band(s) I was in at the time. It's not sat unused in our dining room and needs to go to a good home.

I bought mine in the early/mid-90's & still have it. I think it was in the $500-$600 range when I bought it. It's a nice unit. My only complaint was that it's a little noisy, (hiss/hum) but not too bad. I still use it regularly, to add effects to my Roland Alpha Juno 1, Korg Poly 800 & Casio HT-6000.
